The Leung lab (www.globalguthealth.org) in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Utah School of Medicine is seeking undergraduate volunteers to assist in our immunology research projects.
Our lab’s goal is to understand and improve gut health using cutting edge immunological, genomic, and microbiological approaches. Our current research focuses on: 1) mucosal immune responses to human gastrointestinal infection and vaccination, and 2) longterm effects of gut infections in travelers, missionaries, and residents of low-income countries. Techniques we use include primary cell culture, flow cytometry, cytokine arrays, immunohistochemistry, host transcriptome analysis, and enzyme-linked immunoassays.
Volunteer research assistants will be involved in conducting experiments, analyzing data, and preparation of reports and manuscripts. Training will be provided.
